Das bietet vor allem hooks für Filterskripte, um z.B. sich ständig verändernde Codeblöcke vor dem diff loszuwerden. Für uulm-Studierende hilft das gegen die cache hashes im JavaScript des uulm-Typo3 ;)

Aber natürlich nichts gegen DIY! :)
